The basketball jersey is unisex, worn by the women and men’s basketball teams (current and past players).

Sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-large, 2X-large.

Number: Choose a number for the back (default is “1”).

Material: 100% polyester. Quick-dry.

Returns: Because these jerseys are customized, they are not returnable.

Proceeds: $32.90 of your purchase will go to support the scholarships and bursaries for Indigenous CMU students. An income tax receipt for that amount will be sent to you.

Description: From the graphic artist, Amber Green: “The design for the CMU Blazers basketball jersey with indigenous roots in Treaty One territory encompasses several elements that pay homage to the culture and heritage of the region. This jersey concept features a morning star, a symbol that embodies the values of honouring, protecting, and celebrating individuals.

To incorporate the natural surroundings of where CMU is located, the textures on the jersey draw inspiration from the tree surfaces found in the Assiniboine Forest, specifically aspen and oak. These textures not only add visual interest but also symbolize the deep connection with the land.

Additionally, an overlay of the territory that Treaty One encompasses is included within the design. This overlay serves as a reminder of the historical significance of the area and acknowledges the ongoing relationships between indigenous peoples and the land they have inhabited for generations.

Overall, the design of the jersey seeks to blend indigenous symbolism, natural elements, and geographical representation to create a visually meaningful piece that serves as a statement of reconciliation, reminding us of the ongoing journey towards understanding, healing, and unity.”
